Change

READ "Art" FIRST!

As I stated in an earlier blog (“Closeness”), holiness is not just the elimination of sin. It is the difference in knowing about holiness, and being holy. As I look to becoming a youth pastor one day, but more closely a small group leader next semester, I was reminded this past weekend of how we as leaders (regardless of setting) are required to be better. Our actions become the standard for those that look to us. Both through attending church my whole life as well as being under the microscope of being a pastor’s kid, I was held to a higher standard. Unfortunately I have this division between who I am within the church and who I am outside the church. How I act within church walls is irrelevant to how I present myself outside those Christian circles. I wonder how many Christians within the church are like that; living two separate lives because of their longevity within the church. Yet I see this division as being more harmful than the person that does swear within religious groups. No, it is not okay to swear, but I feel as if the division and secrecy involved in my case is a road to darker and more evil things.
